Nearly every organisation that works with children has a child-safeguarding policy. Nearly every one of them is a long English document, written to satisfy a funder, living in a drawer. The children it exists to protect have never seen it. The parents, volunteers, cooks and drivers it is supposed to guide could not read it if they had.
TotoSafe Space exists to close that gap. We turn safeguarding into things people actually use: plain-language guides parents can teach in an evening, rules a child can hold in a pocket, posters and signage for walls, stories that make courage feel normal — and, with our partners, all of it translated into the languages people actually speak, verified by human reviewers before anything is published.
TotoSafe grows out of a collaboration with fellow Global Fund for Children cohort partners on translating safeguarding into every language — the shared glossaries, materials and local printing network from that work will live on this platform, open to every partner organisation.
Because grants end. TotoSafe Space is designed to pay for itself: the shop sells child-safe products with an earned label, donors sponsor safeguarding packs, and the margins fund three things — the reviewers who check every resource and translation, the printing of materials, and free packs for the schools with the fewest resources. Every allocation is logged publicly on the donations page. The shop is not a side project bolted onto a charity. It is how the protection work survives.
These are not settings we might change. They are the foundation of the platform.
No child data, ever. The Children's Corner has no accounts, no forms, no comments, no uploads. Buying and donating are adult-facing. This website never collects reports or case details — real reporting belongs with real people, and we point to them.
Safe to wander. No advertising, no third-party trackers, no analytics, no external links inside the Children's Corner, and no photographs of identifiable children anywhere — illustrated artwork only.
Help is one tap away. Every page on this site carries the free Uganda Child Helpline, 116.
People approve, not machines. Every safeguarding resource, and every translation once our language hub opens, is reviewed by a named person before it is published — and versioned, so outdated material can be recalled.
The label is earned. Any product sold as child-safe states exactly why it qualifies, on its own product page. If we can't state the basis, we don't sell it.
